Gum According to this story

Gum
According to this story on ideafinder.com chewing gum was invented in its modern form in the late 1800s. It’s an interesting article. This is not the focus of this blog.

I am amazed that the little black circles all over the sidewalks of NYC are gum. I am truly dumbfounded by the square-footage of gum that has been spit out and stepped on all over this city. I am also quite surprised that nobody every talks about it. Every day, New Yorkers trod about on this carpet of chewed gum and never take any notice. It is actually quite hard to believe that it is even possible that all of this gum covers the surface of a city. Since the late 1800s, pedestrians have been spitting out chewed gum onto the floor, and nobody has every cleaned it up. Now we have 4 or 5 black dots per square foot on average blanketing the entire city. Maybe somebody can do a photo study of chewed gum.

That’s it. It has been weighing heavily on my mind. I thought I would share.
