what’s up?

So, I am kindof having a long week. I haven’t been writing much, but that doesn’t mean that a lot isn’t going on.

I was away trying to learn to snowboard in Killington, Vermont over the weekend. I had a good time, but nearly broke my ass - literally. I’ll post a separate story about it, but the bottom line is that I fell HARD.

The Lomo LC-A camera finally came over the weekend. I started shooting with it yesterday. My first roll is mostly shit because I had the setting for film speed set wrong. The next roll should be good. I am pretty psyched. The lens seems very, very good. Of course, I’ll be posting results soon.

I also found a little fuji point & shoot camera up in Vermont. I mean, I literally found it laying there, so I took it. There really wasn’t anyone to give it to. Finders keepers I guess. It had a few pictures on the roll. I finished it off and developed it. There’s one funny shot that I’ll scan tomorrow. It’s actually a pretty cool camera with a small zoom lens. It was free, so I guess it’s really good.

I just watched one of the best episodes of The Shield ever. The show is fantastic. It is slowly but surely overtaking The Sopranos as my favorite dramatic show. Currently it goes: Sopranos, The Shield, West Wing.

Winter X-Games are on now. I love this shit. It is so much better than baseball. I am partial to snowboarding, but some of the other stuff is insane as well. The snowboarders make it look so easy I want to throw up. I watch, with my mouth open, and rub my tail bone, wondering how it is actually possible to jump off a ramp and spin around 3 or 4 or 5 times before you hit the snow and land without falling.

My Powerbook won’t start up anymore. OS 10 gets through the grey apple logo screen, then dumps to a blue screen and hangs there. I might have to reinstall the system, which I really don’t want to do. This sucks. What’s even worse is…

…my roommate just got a 12″ Powerbook delivered. It’s incredible. I am ready (especially with my recent boot-up problem) to put mine on eBay and buy one of these. It is seriously unbeliveable.

A really good friend of mine is very sick. In the hospital sick. Please wish him well.

OK, I’m gonna go. That’s my life this week.

I don’t know how to post a new topic on your site, but everyone should check-out http://www.sydmead.com and look at his WTC design proposal (obviously it was not chosen).

For those of you who don’t know who syd mead is, he’s the guy who painted all those cool futuristic paintings back in the late 60’s that made the future actually look interesting. He was also the visual stylist for all the cool stuff in “Blade runner”.

This design is pretty big, but it sort of says “OK, I dare you to ram a plane into me…see if I care”.

Take note, Mr Mead does not use 3D modeling software. He paints everything with gouache on illustration board. The other proposals don’t even compare in looks.

Chris the question is - did you spend more time in the bar than on the slopes? jackson hole was great a little warm but lots of snow.

    Pat,

You don’t have a posting account. I’ll make a new topic out of this post. Maybe I’ll find the links to the proposed designs too. We can make a WTC future discussion…

    Slob,

I spent a little time in the bar, maybe 3 to 4 hours…which was, in fact, more time than I spent on the slopes. I needed the Irish whiskey to make the pain in my ass go away.
