Those about to rock

This may be the first good news I’ve read on cnn in the last two years. For once I agree with every inductee in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Police, the Clash, Elvis Costello, the Righteous Brothers, AC/DC, not a loser in the bunch. Elvis Costello and the Police are two of my all time favorites.
Actually, it was a good night for bands that hate each other. The Righteous Brothers and the Police are notorious for not getting along. The Police broke up as soon as they had a #1 album! Elvis Costello refused to play with the bass player from the Attractions at the ceremony. There have been a few articles where he’s called him a ‘twat’. Strangely, the band that gets along the best is the heaviest, AC/DC. But that’s only because they’re all insane.

Agreed … love E.C., the Clash, the Police and AC/DC especially. How in the hell is it that the Righteous Brothers and the Police don’t get along? I can’t imagine any circumstance other than the R&R Hall of Fame induction ceremony where they’d have a chance to meet. Having the Righteous Brothers dislike you is not exactly devastating, anyway. They’re like those big lizards in the Dark Crystal with the low voices. I doubt Sting loses sleep over it.

Skeksies (don’t know the spelling..) are the lizards in the Dark Crystal.

Kind of like Sleestack from Land of the Lost, only older, and…puppets.

No, they hate each other in each band. The Police aren’t fighting the Righteous Brothers! That would be funny though. Three against two.

If The Police are in-fighting, it must be really interesting, because Miles Copeland (Stewart’s brother) is Sting’s manager.

I think Miles knows where his paycheck comes from. He’s never left Sting’s side.

The Police were always in-fighting, from the very beginning. That’s what made the music so good. Stewart Copeland used to warn Sting away from what he called “crappy ballads”, and his contribution in this respect is sorely missed. The only one who doesn’t want a reunion is Sting, as he’s content to play light jazz instead of reforming one of the best bands ever.

I’m disappointed there’s no Righteous-Police feud, though. That would have kicked ass.

On the feud front, did any of you feel that icy vibe in the air when Simon and Gurfunkel played at the Grammys? They looked like two guys who didn’t know each other and then cooincidentally showed-up and happened sing the same song.

Does anyone know how or why the Riteous Bros. were fighting? Have they reconciled at all?
