Van Halen warrior
The age old question of who would win the fight between David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar has been answered definitively once and for all. That’s right, not only is David Lee Roth the better lead singer, he’s also a samurai…

Yeah, but… Roth gave himself 21 stitches without anybody else there.
Who’s to say how many stitches he’d end up with in a real fight?
I loved last summer when Sammy and dave toured together. They united for their mutual hatred of Van halen and learned a valuable lesson.
They both hated each otehr personally.
I never liked Sammy at all, and just figured all Dave had to do to win out in their little competition was nothing. He can lose all his hair, get arrested for buying pot, put out crappy albums that no one buys–and he’s still cooler than Sammy Hagar. The only possible thing on the planet that could have changed that would be something along the lines of hitting himself in the face with a sword, and now he’s gone and done it.
That does it…If David Lee Roth can learn to be a karate-man, then I can learn to breakdance.
’sup holmes?
I am going to say it - I prefer Van Halen with Hagar. More of a band than a back up band with really great guitar player and wild frontman. There, I said it.
Wow - Mitchell! Bold move!
But surprisingly - I agree.
Let me prefice this by saying i own every VH album until the live double disc.
I LOVE the music when dave was in the band, but like you said - they were more of a band with Sammy. All you have to do is watch the “Live without a Net” video to see.
That is why 5150 is one of their greatest albums - many of the songs were written for Dave and performed by Sammy - This way you get “The Best of Both Worlds”
…Pun INTENDED
I prefer early Van Halen to the sammy stuff but as a guy I’d want to be around I’d pick Hagar.
They both got kicked out unceremoniously and there’s a lot of bad blood there. But Sammy’s the only guy still happy with life and moving on. He’s got his Cabo place and his tequila, he had a solo career before and he’s with his family. Dave’s bald in Branson.
