finally, vik muniz
You may remember that I mentioned some time ago that my favorite contemporary artist is the genius, Vik Muniz. You may also recall my celebrating the fact that the beautiful documentary of his work would air on PBS in October. Well, it is now October, and in just about a week, on October 14th,
WORST POSSIBLE ILLUSION: The Curiosity Cabinet of Vik Muniz will finally be broadcast to the world. This website link is brand new, PBS’s website for the show. It looks like eventually, taped version will be availble as well. I am sure to buy the DVD if they release one. Though Muniz’s images are often familiar - borrowing from popular culture and Old Master artists - it is quickly evident that they are not what they seem. Using an approach that the artist calls “the worst possible illusion,” the works are formed from materials gathered from everyday life, which Muniz arranges and photographs, rather than traditional artistic materials.” […]
