pith helmet

This is the sickest software I have downloaded in a long, long time. If you have a Mac and are running OS 10.2 with Safari as your browser, GET Pith Helmet right now. It actually removes evey ad from all the pages you visit. That’s right. No more ads. Fuck em. Get rid of them. This software is so smart it even replaces most of the html and allows the site to fill in the gaps where the ads used to be. It is awesome. If you get a version less than 2.0, you won’t have to pay. newer versions cost $10. Get it now.

I love it! It’s so seamless I didn’t actually believe it was working until I opened MSNBC and Yahoo side-by-side in Safari and IE. Ridiculous.

I guess Safari’s marketshare is low enough that people who use software like this aren’t worth worrying about, from an advertiser’s perspective. Maybe if it got too prevalent, though, they’d have to just make the ads indistinguishable from the content, like they’re starting to do more on TV (product placement, e.g.) in response to Tivo users’ skipping ads.

But for now, this kicks ass.
