Altoids iPod Battery in the news

Many of you who follow my stupidity regularly may have noticed the awesome response I got from the nerd community over the Altoids iPod Battery Pack. As I described before, the tech blog community embraced the project and I was featured on boingboing, engadget, hackaday, and others. A short while later, what you don’t know, is that the mainstream media found it. On Christmas week, the project was the first listed on Forbes.com’s Five Custom Gadgets You Can’t Buy. It’s a just a small link, but I think it’s pretty cool. I have also done an interview for MacWorld Magazine that will appear in the April/May issue I think), and an interview for Popular Mechanics that should appear in the March issue. It’s all been kind of crazy, and funny, and I really appreciate the support. Tomorrow afternoon, the project will be featured on G4TechTV’s The Screensavers, which I am pretty psyched about. Nerd or no nerd, my roommate and I TiVo that show practically every day and watch it each night. I am psyched for Kevin Rose, if he’s back from CES, to tell the world how cool I am… oh wait, I mean what a nerd I am.

So, watch The Screensavers tomorrow. You should see the Altoids iPod Battery pack in all its nerdy glory.

That’s really fucking cool. Maybe you’ll get a call from Steve Jobs soon and you can quit that job you seem to hate so much.

Wow – congrats Diclerico. Good to see one of your hair-brained schemes actually pay off!!!

By the way – you know mitchell is SOOOO jealous that you made Popular Mechanics before him.

    Nicely done sir!

By the way – your Altoids case pales in comparison to the Millenium Falcon computer.

But it’s cool none the less.

Yes Rossi, color my jealous. I also note that no mention was made of my dremel tool that was used in the prototype. These hollywood types always forget the little people.

Ah whatever – big ups to Diclerico for invovating nerd land. Now we will never stop hearing about his “patentable ideas”.

So I saw your altoids battery pack on The Screen Savers, very cool. It’s hip to be square.

Wow. Man that’s great. The Forbes article was cool enough but Macworld and ScreenSavers, damn!

See it pays to follow through on ideas and communicate them thoroughly to the world. When you wrote that you gave the appropriate respect to the people who helped with it too. I think that’s great.

I think it looks like it may also pay for some of those other people to patent certain ideas before they get snatched up for nothing. Not the altoids battery (but perhaps something like it) but the other stuff.

I don’t know if I would classify you as a nerd…I never met a nerd that could drink quite as much as you can. Line up another Powers!
