vw polo ad?

VW makes a car in Europe called the Polo. We don’t get it here. It’s kind of like a smaller Golf. It’s nicely designed, about the same size as the old Rabbits, and relatively inexpensive. I’m sure the gas mileage is great. In any case, we’ve never seen ads for it because we can’t buy it. This ad you are about to see is obviously not a real VW ad. I think it is a part of the reel for the company “Lean and Dan”, actually I don’t know.

The thing is, the ad is terribly offensive, and fantastic at the same time. You’ll have to watch it a few times to actually believe what you just watched, then you’ll be mad at VW for a few seconds, and then you’ll realize it must just be a gag. Or is it? I don’t know. I am so confused.

Watch this thing now.

Gag or not - it’s pretty sick. VW is a German company, right? And how do we feel about Germans?

    Hahahahah.

I’m so glad that commercial (if that’s what it was) wasn’t made in the U.S. I like making fun of current events or current figures. But if you want to do it, it can be done in better taste than this was. I don’t mind seeing suicide bombers get one over on them, but having them drive right up to the cafe of people was too much. I kept thinking about people that have been killed in this way or similar.

P.S. Rob they put an alternate link up there to use. Use that one.

It may be tough, but that Polo’s resale value is gonna take a serious hit. Febreeze sucks at getting brain out of the headliner.

I’m torn. The production values are high, and it looks like it was shot on 35. This was no hack with a mini DV cam and a cheap tripod.

On the other hand, I just can not imagine the CEO of Volkswagen approving that ad. If he did, then he should be fired. There is nothing funny about suicide bombers (now or ever)…And to specifically make the guy a Palestinian is just asking for trouble. If its real, then look for Palestinian bombers to use a VW Polo as their next vehicle of choice (just for kicks).
