straight up and dirty
In case some of you did not see the NY Post this morning, or did not read Page Six (I don’t know anyone who reads the Post but NOT Page Six), our good friend Stephanie Klein has blown up.
Judith Regan, of Harper Collins, Regan Books, is signing Stephanie to a 2 book deal that includes the rights for a TV show and a movie based on her work. The first book, “Straight Up and Dirty” will deal with Stephanie’s life after her divorce and back into the single’s scene. Some have compared her work to Sex in the City, but I can tell you first hand that she is wayyy funnier, and way more real than any of that crap. Her second book will be about fat camp, and I can tell you that I have read a bunch of those stories already, and they are simply brilliant.
In case you aren’t familiar with Judith, she is a star-maker. She had 13 books on the NY Times bestseller list in 2004, and was responsible for books by Howard Stern, Rush Limbaugh, Jenna Jameson, and Wally Lamb. She is an absolute shark, and smells success written all over Stephanie.
I couldn’t be prouder. I am so happy for her, my stomach hurts. So, wish her luck, not that she needs it anymore, and sit back and watch this star be born. We can all say we knew her way back when…

you’re such a peach.
AND, I wouldn’t be here without you. Not like you gave birth to me or anything, but you did encourage the blog… somewhere in your archives it’s there… your first email to me.
I feel honored to work with two celebrities. You guys rock. Congrats to both of you.
Holy freakin crap! That’s brilliant! Congrats Stephanie! Exclamaition points RULE!
Seriously, that fantastic news. Question – who’s going to play Diclerico in the movie?
I vote for Tom Seizmore. He gets drunk, sleeps with Heidi Fleiss, and well… does this
Anyway – all the best Stephanie!
Congrats Stephanie! You are the envy of every blogger in the world (as if you didn’t get enough heads turning!).
Best of luck Stephanie. Even though you might not have a clue of who I am. If Chris was drunk and at a party, chances are we’ve meet somewhere down the road.
Rossi, you are mint.
And chances are I failed english too. That would be “MET” somewhere down the road.
chris-dude your website is hilarious! cant figure out if this chick is cool or just plain desperate. any thoughts?
She’s cool. One of my best friends. She’s just honest and emotional, and you get all the benefits of her open book when you read her work.
Thanks for reading, from both of us.
You’re both losers, stop kissing each other’s asses already, will ya?
[...] The puff piece by Stephanie Rosenbloom, however, came across as one written on Judith Regan or Regan Books stationary. In fact, after reading it, I asked Stephanie whether the publicity team over at Regan books was responsible for planting the story, since the story did not contain nary a critique. I realized the insensitivity of my comment when I made it but maybe I was just being “straight up and dirty.” My sense was that the writer was very much one whom Stephanie Klein courted and developed a relationship. I almost wanted to ask whether Stephanie Rosenbloom was in fact a personal friend of Stephanie Klein. I suspect so, as Stephanie stated to me that, “they really like me over at the New York Times.” Perhaps the manner in which Stephanie Klein and Heather Hunter networked the Times for their gab fess piece on getting schtupped by the same guy, Benjamin Wagner, at the same time explains the reason for their being on the same menstrual cycle. Maybe their internal fluids became mixed in the process? See, Traveling the Too- Much-Information Highway. [...]
