lost america
Lost America is Troy Paiva’s gallery of “night photography of the abandoned roadside west”. The work is so incredible. None of it is edited in photoshop, it’s all straight from the camera, which is hard to believe at times. Most of it is shot at night. So, so great.
Looking at these photos gives me the same feeling I got the first time I read Jack Kerouac’s, On the Road. I just want to get in my car and drive, and take some pictures, and meet real people, and wear the same pair of jeans for a month.

Derelict but powerful. The stillness and emptiness is saying it all. Striking…..
This is some really amazing stuff I must agree. I wish some of those more interesting places weren’t hard to get to or rather stay at I mean. Even the abandoned buildings have security these days. Really the best night shooting I’ve ever imagined.

I did this in Texas. I quit my job and just took off for three months. I spent all my savings but it was worth it. Everyone should try to do this sometime in their life if even for a week. It will change your perspective on the way that you perceive your world. It will impact your life profoundly. America is indeed beautiful.
