fly powered model airplane

I don’t know if this is real, and I’m so grossed out by flies that I’ll never be able to try it. But, here are instructions to make a model airplane out of a matchstick and then have it powered by flies. If anybody out there with a strong stomach wants to validate this technique, I’d really appreciate it.

This is amazing. But I’m surprised the creators didn’t say anything about lighting the match before takeoff. I’d love to see a video of that.

yeah ive tryed something like that except with a bee, i saw someone on some skate video flying a bee on a string so be and my neighbor caught one then froze it and when it thawed out it flew around on its little leash we made of thread haha its amazing what people do when they are bored in the summer…

Yes, I used to do the bee thing when I was in 8th grade. You go up to them and catch them with plastic baggies. Stick em in the freezer and keep checking on them (often) til they pass out (you don’t want to kill em). Tie the string to a lg and wait a minute or two until they wake up again. Bee on a string. Too bad they’ll try so hard to get away that they lose a leg though :-(
