ariel atom

The Ariel Atom is a tiny, two-seater, 500kg, 4-wheeled, open-aired, windshield-less and radio-less “car” that costs under 30K (pounds) and outperforms a $500K Porsche Carerra GT. It uses a Honda Civic VTEC engine fitted with a supercharger to produce 300HP: that equals 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, if “you can shift fast enough.” And it’s gorgeous too. BBC’s fantastic show Top Gear did a 10 minute video review that is one of the most entertaining things have ever seen. You have to see this. It is incredible. It’s only a matter of time before we get the host of this show in the US. He’s awesome. Unfortunately, the car is only available in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, and is unlikely to be able to get street-legal status here in the states.

I lust this car, and would be the first in line to buy one.

That car is incredible. The way that guy was yelling when he was driving it says a lot considering the cars he has driven…

Impressive: And I like the quality of the TV show too (can we get that one here?).

TOP GEAR is hands down the best TV show about cars. Has been for decades. The Speed Channel should import it.

the US sucks – in that i can imagine the DOT will “regulate” the hell out of something like this.

i’ll trade my vespa and life savings in for one of these in a second – and smoke chris’s GTI…

If this were ever brought to the USA, well-to-do parents would buy them for their 17 year old sons, and soon after, they’d figure out how to modify them and make them look stupid…And then they’d install those stupid subwoofer systems…At least their sideways baseball cpas would get blown-off.

And if these kids got a hold of them, they’d all be dead within 2 weeks of getting the cars.

Probably best that they stay in Austrailia

It IS possible to register in the US. I’ve done it and just sold that one (my first) to a guy in Oregon. I have another arriving in about 4 weeks’ time. In case you’re wonderig, no, not the s\c 300hp edition. Naturally aspirated @ 245 hp 6 speed lsd. It rips!

I went to visit the factory, had a ride in a 300HP version. It is unfraguinbelievable! Nothing, nothing goes like it! It also breaks on a dime and turns on a peny like you’d imagine it should!

Of course, it’s not for idiots… no ABS, no DSC, ASC crap… A real Man’s (or Woman’s) car it is!!!

Give this to your kids if you dont like them or just want to get rid of them! ;)
