upgrade
I decided to stick with MoveableType, for now, so I payed the $99 for the professional license (unlimited blogs, unlimited authors), and upgraded to the latest version, 3.16. I think it was a good move. My biggest concern was that changing to a new system would break all my archive URLs, meaning none of the old links to popular posts would work anymore. Sticking with MT means the URLs stay the same, unless I choose to go with the live DB templates. Anyway, the upgrade went smoothly, and I am slowly but surely going to take advantage of the new features.
I think some of the recent additions to Comment SPAM control in MT-Blacklist are extraordinary, and may really do the trick this time around. Jay Allen is a fucking genius. I am working on implementing James Seng’s Security Code plugin that asks you to type in the word from the blurry box to submit a comment, which should completely eliminate the possibility of bot comments. The thought of this warms my heart.
I’ll be learning a little more CSS in the next few days and weeks and implementing some design changes to hopefully make the site easier to use. I will be continuing with the vastly outdated pixel design though, because I like it.
I am switching to a new host, Dreamhost, probably this week, so there may be some service interruptions while the servers switch over. Hopefully it will go smoothly, but I may need to double post everything until the transition is complete. We’ll see.
Wish me luck.

good luck

having some comment moderation problems. Um, all the settings have it turned off, yet it seems to be doing it anyway.
one more time.
godammit.
this is retarded now.
last time.
how about with moderation turned “on”?
please baby jesus, I want to go to sleep.
Sleep, sweet child…albeit an Italian one. Sleep. Forever more.
I was like, wow, 10 comments on this. This is going to be good. I’m going to learn something technical. Instead I got to watch your growing frustration.
And I became frightened.
Yeah, I just changed over to Movable Type. I like it a lot. I am just not all that great with CSS so that will take some getting used to. It’s all about W3C though right!!!
I switched over to Dreamhost not too long ago myself and have nothing but good things to say about them.
hmmm
FIXED
congrats. blog on. and on.
I feel the need to mention the remarkable WordPress personal publishing system, although I understand your archive link continuity concerns.
Just wondering, what web host are you switching from?
