R.I.P. Peter Jennings

I’ve never been what you’d call a ‘fan’ of the news and current events.
I hardly ever know what’s going on in the world unless someone points it out to me.
I’ll hardly ever be involved in a discussion about politics, current events, the war or anything that has anything to do with the government.

But there was a time in my life not too long ago when someone in the media meant something to me.

Peter Jennings

During the 9/11 madness, Peter Jennings was who told me what happened, what was happening, and what was likely going to happen with the entire event.
With his wrinkled clothes, eyes weighed down by giant bags from fatigue, and tossed about hair that looked like it hadn’t been washed in days, he sat at his desk, with the rest of the world looking to him for comfort, and never left.

Aug. 7, 2005 was when Peter Jenning died, in his home, from cancer of the lungs.

CNN reports:

” ‘Good Morning America’ co-host Charles Gibson announced late Sunday that Jennings had died in his New York City apartment. His wife, Kayce, his children Elizabeth and Christopher, and his sister were at his side…”

Hey Chris, have you ever noticed that the “e” in your main title page font…SUCKS? Whoever drew it, drew it badly.

You know, I hadn’t noticed, but you’re totally right. That ‘e’ is completely malformed. I will consider a revised typeface this weekend.

[...] A lot of people I know have been eulogizing Peter Jennings. Chris did on his site. So did Bianca on hers. Others I know were really affected by his death. I never watched Peter Jennings. He seemed a likable enough fellow. He seemed, well, Canadian. I’ve never met a Canadian I didn’t like. They’re all so very likable. [...]

What a great internationalist and Canadian too.

He was always so in control and calm on television.

May he RIP in NY state and the Gatineau Hills outside of Ottawa, Ont., Can – his home town.
