redesigning fake news

The Onion just got completely redesigned (oddly appears to be DOWN right now…) from the ground up by Khoi Vinh’s NYC design shop, Behavior. Khoi’s account of the experience can be found here, on his very nicely designed personal site, Subtraction.com. Behavior also overhauled the AV Club a few weeks ago. Both designs are getting Khoi and his company some much deserved praise. I don’t envy the idea of starting a parody news site from scratch, but it seems that Behavior dug in deep and really nailed this one. Kudos.

Khoi also has a post on his site where he discusses the design of the recently released NYC Voter’s Guide. I got mine today, and I have to fully agree. This is absolutely the single best designed piece of information I have ever received from a government or public agency. The look also carries over into the website, which I haven’t dug deep into, but can see the quality and attention to detail. Whoever designed this, kudos to you as well.
