The RotoKings

I know that sports isn’t usually something that is discussed on this blog - but I ran this by Chris and he OK’ed this shameless self promotion

There are a lot of nerdy conversations on this site (comic books, technology) - I figured I’d kick it up a notch by bringing in the nerdly topic of Fantasy Baseball (watch the girls leave the room)

For a while I wanted to launch a podcast but couldn’t think of a compelling format. About two months ago I decided to launch a fantasy baseball podcast with 3 equally nerdy friends.

Using Skype to essentially have a free web conf. call, a $20 recording program and a Typepad site - we were up and running. Other than switching over the to TOTALLY SWEET LibSyn service - it’s been pretty turn key. (I cannot suggest LibSyn enough for potential podcasters)

We got picked up in iTunes a few weeks back have done a little word of mouth promotion, and I’m astounded at how fast this is picking up. Although with over 15million people playing fantasy sports, adding 200 new listeners a day seems like we have a long way to go - but I’m still thrilled that in the course of a few weeks, well over a thousand people (and quickly growing) listen to my friends and I talk sports. This week we have an interview with Sam Walker who just published a book: Fantasyland: A Season on Baseball’s Lunatic Fringe.

Anyway - if any of you are in a fantasy baseball league and want to check it out - I’m really happy with the final result. If any of you have podcasting questions go ahead and email me: jeffr44@yahoo.com - I’ll gladly share what little knowledge I have.
