cold water

Aside form getting lost yesterday, I had another rude awakening to life in Dubai. I have never even heard of this happening to anyone in the history of modern plumbing…

My apartment ran out of COLD water. That’s right. The water that just comes out of the ground…gone. The faucets turned on, the shower had perfect pressure. BUT, the water was scaldingly hot even though I had the handle turned all the way towards the cold side. (I have one handle on all faucets, not two knobs.) Steaming, scalding, nearly boiling water. Not good.

I have endured cold showers in the middle of the winter in NY. It sucks, but there’s no harm done. It’s probably good for you. Boiling water, well, that’s another thing altogether. Last night, I was an hour late to meet friends because I had to wait for the water to cool off…

    hey Chris
    Forgot to tell you about this, since all the cold water is stored on the roof as the tempretures climb it gets heated to as much as 50 C.
    Answer is to switch off your hot water heater, the hot tank is then cooled by the flat AC and you just get used to swapping taps..
