If they're newer, they're just as sturdy as strap-ins, but many times easier. Once you get used to them, you don't even have to touch the board, just stand up off the lift, and stamp down into the binding and you're ready to go. AND, they aren't plastic, I've never liked the plastic construction of strap-ins. If possible, always get step in bindings.
