I got very drunk last night and had to sleep until 6pm today. It’s a long story, but the short of it is that a guy from the Tivoli, Libya office was in town for training. A few weeks ago I met him on the roof and shared my beer with him and his friends. Technically he didn’t even partake because he was on some type of medication. A few days ago he knocked on my door and to my surprise handed me a case of beer from duty-free. I get that a lot because visitors really like it when I share my beer with them. We decided to drink quite a few beers last night and then go out to the only proper bar in all of Dubai. We basically closed The Rock Bottom last night, only drinking beer. But it was many, many, many beers. I think I stumbled home at 4am but I’m not sure. I wasn’t able to get my head off the pillow this afternoon until 5:45pm. Not good.

When I finally dragged myself and my wobbly head into the livingroom to check email, I clumsily sat down in front of the couch at the laptop. After a few minutes I felt something kind of cold and gooey under my left thigh. Maybe like a piece of fruit or something. So I reached my hand down there and sort of flicked it out. To my surprise, it was a lizard! And it ran across my livingroom floor!!! Cutest little lizard ever! I think it’s a tiny gecko because I saw his little flat suction fingertips right as he slammed his tiny head into my tv stand and then squeazed himself through the tiny little space between the floor and the front of the cabinet. I nearly shit myself for a split second but then I laughed so hard my already throbbing head nearly exploded.

After that I didn’t see him again for hours. Around 10pm I spotted him make a break for the balcony door which is, of course, closed. I hopped up and ran over to see, but he was nowhere to be found.

So I’ve got a roommate. I am normally good with pet names, but I haven’t seen this guy well enough to feel comfortable doing that yet. I’ll keep you posted for sure, and hopefully snap a few picts.
