I love Old Bethpage Village Restoration - its like going to Colonial Williamsburg without having a cool theme park near by! Growing up in Nassau Country, LI I took many a field trip there and two fond memories I have of this Potamkin village are: winning (or participating in but I’m pretty sure I won it) a corn shucking contest and the super cheap pennystick (maybe a dime? damn inflation!) candy in the gift shop.
For those that want to go, its located right off of the Northern State Parkway on Round Swamp Road on the border of Nassau and Suffolk County Yes, I know how to get there by heart but only because I worked at a day camp one summer which had the same exit.
