flight sim vs. reality
A couple of days ago I told a little story about my experience in the Emirates flight simulator. It was incredibly realistic, with gravity, g-forces, shaking, and even smoke. Graphics views out the window were stunning, but frankly, and I hate to say it, but Microsoft may have one-upped everyone with their latest version of the desktop “game” Flight Simulator X. Check out this video footage of the same landing, at the same airport, in the same weather conditions, using Flight Simulator X and a real small aircraft. Incredible.
If it wasn’t for the on screen menus and some of the bouncing around on landing, it would be pretty difficult to tell the difference. Not only are the graphic fantastic, but it appears that every tiny detail of the airport and surrounding area has been rendered.

Not only do I get to post a comment, I can learn math too! You’re the best Chris DiClerico.com!
(interesting captcha by the way)
What other flight sims have you used? I ask because I once worked on Fighter Squadron and still have a slightly more than passing interest in the sim world.
Where can we find the “Emirates flight simulator”?
Hey Michael, my Emirates flight sim story is here. I forgot to add the link in the post, but I’ve put it in now.
I don’t use a PC, so most flight sims have been off-limits to me for quite some time. I do love them though. I have never heard of Fighter Squadron.
Michael, How did you get into the flight sim, that must have been so cool. Im in Dubai, Loving simulators too. Reckon the only chance I’ll get to go on one is London as they have day courses you can do. I suggest you buy a PC and get FSX Im buying a new PC just for that !!
Sorry I meant you Chris lol
