macheist’s extraordinary shareware bundle

I thought I would balance my karma by promoting a great deal on some independent developer shareware since my last post was essentially about how to steal photoshop.

For the last month or so, Phil Ryu’s MacHeist has been selling a deeply discounted bundle of really great shareware apps for $49. It’s a limited-time offer that actually ends tomorrow. 25% of the collected money goes to the charity of your choice, and the rest is split among the developers. They offered a tiered incentive program, where more of the apps were unlocked as more bundles were sold. So, they had it planned that if they raised more than $100,000 for charity, all 10 apps would be unlocked. If not, all buyers would get all the unlocked apps.

Yesterday, they decided that they weren’t going to reach the $100K, but they decided to release the last app on this list, which is the best text editor on the planet, TextMate. That software alone costs more than the price of the $49 bundle. Adding it in at the end seems to have been a good decision, because they are now over $120K just one day later.

Bottom line, there is only a day and half left to get $356 in software for $49, $12 of which will go to charity. If you buy more than one bundle, then subsequent bundles are even cheaper. Below is the whole list of software, but in my opinion, it is worth just for TextMate and Delicious Library alone. Don’t miss out on this. (It also makes a great Christmas gift.)
