It’s alive
I have been here in Dubai now for about 20 months. I arrived on March 7, 2006. For that whole time I have been helping to manage the redesign and redevelopment of Emirates Airline’s website. Monster of a project really. Every line of code is new. Nearly every image is new. Vendors from all over the world chipped in, including London, Amsterdam, India, Ireland, Dubai, Hong Kong, and NY. Last week they finally pulled the trigger and the site went live in 76 countries, in 9 languages, standards compliant, accessible, and beautiful.
Congratulations to Emirates and everyone involved, and some special thanks to the few that really made it happen: Jake, Sajit, and Sanil.
On top of being an enormous achievement for the airline and for me personally, it also means I am almost done here for good. I’ll being arranging the move back to NY for the week of Dec 10. I’ll be spending Dec and Jan in NY catching up with friends and partying my ass off. In Feb, right AFTER SuperBowl Turducken, I’ll be moving to Costa Rica for an extended vacation of 3 - 4 months. I plan to learn Spanish and lay on the beach. Feel free to join me. I think we all need a break.

I hate you.
I’m visiting Costa Rica, but living there sounds like way more fun.
Way to go with the website, I look forward to using it to book some flights in the future.
Enjoy the vacation

Will miss your posts and photos from the other side of the world. Jealous as hell, like all your other readers. Looking forward to your feedback on the Kindle. Cheers.
Yeah, right, prick. I’m trying to book a flight right now and the thing keeps hanging. Oh, and that frickin route map - it’s…oh, hang on…I, erm…
Anyhoo, there’s no chance we’re letting you go. We’re keeping you. Like some kind of fat pet.
Congratulations Chris. What an achievement.
What ever happened to your plans for moving to Amsterdam. I’ll trade you my place for 4 month Costa Rica
Take care

Sweet. Now if you could please revamp the atrocious Thai Air website, too. :-]
