MIA

Things have been absolutely insane for a few weeks so I haven’t been blogging properly. Sorry about that. I know I am losing most of my readers to this, but sometimes there is nothing I can do. If it helps at all, I do think about writing all the time, I just don’t do it.

Anyway, a quick update: My sister Lisa visited me in Dubai last week. She arrived on Halloween. The next day we got on a plane and headed to Beirut for the weekend. We met a friend of mine out there and he tour-guided us around the country for 4 days. Absolutely amazing. I have about 1000 photos still to process, so I won’t get into too many details just yet.

Upon our return to Dubai, I had the busiest work week in a really long time. Final preparation for the launch of emirates.com, the website I’ve been working on for nearly 2 years. Late nights and exhausting days led to me being a less than gracious host for most of her trip, but I think Lisa was able to find some good things to keep her busy. She was scheduled to fly out on Nov 10, the actual website launch day, so instead of being the office showing some solidarity and professionalism, I was on a yacht, yachting around Dubai Marina, the Jumeirah Palm, and the World Islands. I have another 1000 pictures from that day that I haven’t even looked at yet.

The site went live without me (a separate post on that will follow), so after Lisa left Sat night, work has been all about post-launch scrambling to fix assorted loose ends. Now that most everything is sorted, I can comfortably take an actual vacation, so tomorrow night I leave for Kerala, India to spend a week on the beach and boating through jungle rivers. I’ll be meeting one of my good friends from this project who is from there, so I’ll have yet another gracious local host. I couldn’t be more excited for a trip, or for the impending diarrhea.

And that’s it I guess for now. I’ll start writing more when I get back from India. Thanks for hanging in there.

We’re all still reading, Chris. That nasty Frankenstein toe thing was potent enough to keep us coming back through the drought. Congrats on your completed project and best of luck during the festivities of your move and beyond.
