liftoff

Oops. These guys tried to make a flying car using helium balloons. The results are unexpected.

That’s a really well done edit job. I mean, it took waaaaay more balloons to lift just a small balloon in this clip from Mythbusters: http://youtube.com/watch?v=e8i7ESjCw3o

(sorry for posting this lame re-edit, but I couldn’t find any real clips)

They did a pretty good job, though. If they shot the car on the ground, they knew to make the suspension fully extend down from the car, which is often times forgotten.

Wait a minute. This is fake, right?

Yes, it’s a hoax. Ford made it as a viral video. You’ll find a “News3″ report on youtube that confirms they brought in a crane to lift the car, then edited the video to hid it. It would take many times more helium baloons to lift a car, even with the engine and interior pulled out. Think: blimp.

Oh…typo…should have been “l…ift just a small child” in my last post…d’oh!

Cool video! There’s a follow up posted on YouTube showing they brought in a crane to do the heavy lifting.
