I have been terrible at this whole “website” thing for some time now. Site launch, travel, finishing up, packing up, etc, has gotten in the way. I promise more frequency and a redesign is coming soon, but for now, here’s the latest news for Chris DiClerico.

In the last month and a half I have been to Lebanon, India, Fujeirah, and Oman. I have swam in millions of jellyfish, driven through a Hezbollah village, seen an elephant’s giant penis, photographed dangling monkeys, chased dolphins, helped launch a website, gotten my GPS stolen, lost all my downloaded movies, music, TV shows and porn, recovered all my movies, music, TV shows, and porn, listened to most beautiful love song ever, cried my eyes out in a movie theater, and slept on a mountain, in a boat, and with a stranger. It’s a been a busy couple of weeks.

I have pictures to prove most of the stories above and have been going through them for some time. Spotty, slow, and nearly blocked Flickr access prevents my efficient tagging, uploading, and sharing of these pictures, but I promise they are coming soon.

I’ll be finally leaving Dubai for good next week, then enjoying NYC for the holidays and some of January. It’s been 21 months (after agreeing to only 5) and the most incredible experience of my life. My life and attitude is different now and I’ll never go back to the old way. I have many people to thank for that but I won’t do it here right now. (They also know who they are…) But I can say that I didn’t think I’d become attached to people the way I have, and I never thought leaving would be this hard.

So the plan after NY is to go to Colombia in the middle of Jan, then Costa Rica in Feb, with a quick trip out to you-know-where to see you-know-what before you-know-who kicks the bucket. Hint: Fidel Castro is old and Cuba will be a giant theme park a month after he dies. After that, well, I am thinking about Amsterdam for work and play - a fantastic, beautiful, liberal city to make some better-than-dollar money and see Europe from. I’ll let you know how that goes.
