This is a nation of believers and of non-believers, and all should be accepted and protected. And participate in our democracy, whether through service or protest. Thanks for posting this wonderful speech. Obama’s intelligence, fair mindedness and charisma is capturing the attention and hearts of many disaffected Americans. Hopefully enough to win him the Presidency.

I watched that debate over the weekend. Hitchens’ first 15-minute argument against the existence of God is pure genius. I might not agree with Hitchens on everything (some of his opinions on the war are questionable) but for the most part the man is brilliant. Who else has balls big enough to call Mother Theresa a “douche-bag”?

As for the Rabbi, what an ignorant fool. I love it when Hitchens refers to him as “Big Boy.”

I dream about the day our society leaves this childish bullshit (i.e. religion) behind, but it’s going to take another 100 years or so.

I voted for Obama, and I hope like hell he gets elected, but I worry about what will happen when the GOP starts using the war on terr’r to scare all the dipshits into voting for McCain. Remember: as Romney says, a vote for the Democrats is a “surrender to terror.”
