diclerico’s life update
So it is finally a done deal. I am Costa Rica bound in one week. New York has been amazing, but it is time for me to do something so I don’t get too comfortable. So on Friday Feb 22, I’ll be flying out to San Jose, Costa Rica. I’ll stay in San Jose for a few days sightseeing and not getting mugged. Then a friend of mine is picking me up and driving us down to a small beach town on the South Pacific coast called Dominical. From there I plan on kickin it. Seriously, there is no plan after that. Will make it to Panama and a few other Central American places, and maybe to an island or two. My return to NY ticket isn’t until April 20th, so I have 2 months to figure it all out. (By the way, I got a roundtrip, nonstop ticket on Delta for $350…)
You are all welcome to come visit in Costa Rica, but I have no idea how my living situation is going to be. I tentatively have plans to live with a friend of a friend in a 2 bedroom house for about $200/month. That would be sweet, but I have no idea what it looks like or where it is. I’ll let you know.
I also have no idea about how communications are going to be. Internet and phone may be spotty and difficult to come by. I don’t know what is going to happen with this site while I’m away. I will try to update as best as possible, but as you see, even in the first world I have been inconsistent at best.
This weekend 2/3 of the BMA (Big Men of Astoria) of which I am one, are heading to Camelback for sloppy snowboarding along with a house full of misfits. The other 1 of the BMA flaked out like a bitch. So, if I don’t break my legs, this is basically my last week of winter weather for a long-ass time.
Cooking some meatballs and sauce today/tonight with my good friend Amy. Will take about 5 hours to make and 4 minutes to eat. I’ll also be very, very drunk.
OK, so that’s it for now. Happy Valentine’s Day.

When you go to south pacifc Costa Rica you HAVE to go to Manuel Antonio National Park. It is the best thing there. Theres a good surfing beach in Jaco too at the Teraza de Pacifico. For sight seeing and historical value, there is the restauraunt built around the Hassenfus. If you don’t remember what that is, it’s the American plane that was shot down by the rebels during the Contras. A millionaire bought it from the Nicaraguin govt. and made it into a bar. Really cool and has a perfect view of the ocean from it.
Panama is awesome! My wife and I went to a wedding in Farallón at a resort there - cool town to drive down and see. Manuel Noriega’s bombed out house is next to the resort - you can climb over a fence and walk around, look at debris and awesome tags. There’s a bar called Pipa’s there that serves two lobster tails and a bunch of giant langostinos for $25 and they have $1 beers.
If you make it through this snowboarding weekend without breaking anything, you might want to make sure that other Big Man of Astoria doesn’t break your legs for that “flaked out like a bitch” comment. Just saying.
Also thinking that maybe you could just stay in NY and have fun with us :/
Yeah ya dick. Fucking Costa Rica! You live in alphabet city, there is plenty of culture there. I agree with Lisa. Stay in NY with your friends and family, but I know you really want to be that guy on “Tales of the Golden Monkey” So go get it out of your system. You’re X-box 360 and DVR will be waiting for you when you get back. Dick.
