Mini Roof Studio

I don’t think I have to tell anyone here that Mini (you know, the cars) consistently have the BEST marketing and viral marketing campaigns I have ever seen. I hope I don’t have to remind you about the whole Counterfeit Mini commercials and DVDs. In any case, their new online effort is fantastic in so […]

Web 2.0

Caution: This article is for people who care about web development, advertising, publishing, and design. All others will probably find it too long, too boring, and too nerdy to be worth their time.
I’ve been writing far too many presentations lately about the way the web has changed over the last year or two. Applications like […]

knife block copy

Some of you might remember a few weeks back when I posted about this genius knife block design by Martin Robitsch. The Schaschlik knife block costs $110, and my knives are just not worth it. But for a simple little DIY test of skills, it seemed like a great project. So, as promised, I built […]

gorgeous photo gallery templates for MT

Douglas Bowman of Stopdesign recently made all the template files from his beautiful personal weblog photo gallery available for free download and use. They are intended to be used with MovableType version 3 and higher, and it seems that they would be super-diffuclit to adapt to Wordpress or any other CMS. Since I’m not using […]

bumbakpaks

Check out these really nice messenger bags by Bumbakpaks. They have a number of really nice features, including multiple pockets in and out, waterproof lining, quick access zippers, and multiple side pockets. But the really sweet innovation is the convertible shoulder strap that turns the messenger into a backpack. It hangs low against the ass […]

Khoi’s account of the experience can be found here, on his very nicely designed personal site, Subtraction.com. Behavior also overhauled the AV Club a few weeks ago. Both designs are getting […]

beautiful knife block!?

This Schaschlik knife block by Martin Robitsch is genius as far as I’m concerned. It’s a wooden box 12″ x 8.5″ x 6″, filled with bamboo skewers! Knives slide in, perfectly safely, in any direction. It’s $110 that I will not be spending. But… I will be building one of these this weekend at my […]

Everything Japanese is cute.

i regularly visit Best Flash Animation Site to take a gander at the weekly list of the top 6 sites that use Flash. They’re usually pretty up and up on the good and the bad.
I like the top site for this week: elisasassi.com.

If you take a look at the ‘work’ she does, it’s pretty […]

london tube logo reworked

In response to the horrifying London terror attacks last week, some designer reworked the London Tube logo with a bunch of terror-defying slogans. This is why I like Londoners. They should do one that just says, “Fuck You.” In any case, these are surprisingly impactful. I wish there were t-shirts.

Amazon.com using AJAX to sell bling

Amazon.com is using AJAX to create a clever little app for choosing diamonds of all things. (unfortunately, it’s not working in Safari) First of all, I had no idea Amazon sold diamonds. Who the fuck would buy a $20k diamond engagement ring from Amazon.com?? More importantly, this is a natural and clever (though admittedly specialized) […]

how to pee

How to Pee is just one of the 232 hilarious signs from all over the world, collected on SwankSigns.com. The best part are the titles that the submitters give to each sign when they upload them. So good.
