homeless martians on mars…

…with squeegees.

Look, I don’t care what NASA tells us on this one. It is clearly alien intervention, most likely of the homeless squeegee kind.

We’ve got two robot crawlers on the surface of Mars right now, the Spirit and the Opportunity. They are solar powered, with outstretched solar panels, meant to capture as much power from the sun as possible (about 900 watt-hours). Those panels get dusty over time, and maximum output is calculated and expected to decrease over time, until eventually the rovers become inoperable. All of this is built into the plan. Spirit’s output, due to the dust build-up, has decreased to about 500 watt-hours per day. Opportunity’s output also decreased at a similar rate, and 6 months ago also output only 500 watt-hours.

The unusual thing is that Opportunity’s output has now jumped back to 900 watt-hours per day, and scientists have absolutely NO WAY TO EXPLAIN IT, other than wind. Yes, wind. On 4 different occasions over the last 6 months, the output increased by 5% IN ONE NIGHT. Basically, though afraid to say it, scientists know that alien squeegee technology is responsible. These panels have been CLEANED. CLEANED I TELL YOU.

I for one have packed my bags. I am ready to go. I don’t know where to go, but I am ready. Aliens exist, and they are homeless, and they are cleaning our vehicles against our will. Mars is , apparently, EXACTLY like Queensboro Plaza, which is scary, but the hookers are cheap. If only the Opportunity were equipped to roll down its window and hand out quarters…

Don’t take my word for it. Read The New Scientist’s account.
